What Would Happen If Truck Drivers Stopped For A Week?

Have you ever stopped to think about where all the products that you have at home come from? According to 2020 data from CANACAR, freight trucking in Mexico transported 512 million tons of goods and products, equivalent to 56.9% of total domestic cargo, and contributed 3.3% of the National Gross Domestic Product. While in the United States in 2019, trucking accounted for 72.9% of all freight transported and contributed 5.4% of the Gross Domestic Product in 2020.

The impact that truck drivers have in our daily lives and our economy is not well known or recognized. But do you know what would actually happen if truck drivers stopped working for just one week?

We briefly experienced the absence of truck drivers at the beginning of the pandemic, which highlighted the importance of every single person involved in the supply chain. However, this profession remains largely unrecognized, under-appreciated, and risky; truck drivers are not only necessary to deliver shipments, but are truly essential to living life as we do today.
